Because of time constrains and not paying attention to how long the assignment might take I will start with the alternative and then move to finding a contact around the world.
http://worldforumfoundation.org/wf/wp/about-us is the site I went to. If you have time check out Bonnie's Blog it is very interesting. They will soon have a discussion group going.
For part one I have chosen HeadStart for a state side contact
National Head Start Associationhttp://www.nhsa.org/
(Newsletter: http://www.nhsa.org/news_and_advocacy/advocacy/legislative_eupdate
and for a contact out of the United States
Association for Childhood Education Internationalhttp://acei.org/
(Review also these online resources at: http://acei.org/knowledge/
You can join the association for a fee and they have a students fee that is reasonable.

ReplyDeleteI was so focused on the discussion and applications assignments, I found myself in the same situation. Too little time. I am waiting to hear back from my two contacts. Regarding Head Start, I conducted my observation assignments for EDUC 6161 at a local Head Start. I did not really know anything about Head Start until I started this MSEC program. Based on my observations, I believe the Head Start program is doing all the right things to support the social, emotional, and biosocial development of children. The pictures, toys, dolls, posters, environment, and supports all promoted social equity (language, gender, ethnicity, and ability) and self-directed learning. The program I visited was in the process of transitioning the the Reggio Emilia program. After reading about the father of Head Start, Dr. Edward Zigler, and visiting a local Head Start program, I love Head Start.
